Why It Exists

I love Sierra Chart. I need orderflow to trade, I don't want to trade a platform I'm not comfortable with. That simple, this was initially designed to solve a problem I faced and I realized others might be having this issue too.

SierraStep does not execute trades on your behalf. Instead, it acts as an intelligent layer on top of Sierra Chart, providing order routing to your TopstepX Account.

SierraStep is not a brokerage, trading platform, or financial advisor. It does not interact with funding companies or process evaluations. It simply enhances what the trader is already doing inside their own Sierra Chart environment.

  1. Create ProjectX Dashboard Account - pay for the subscription if you haven't already

  2. Go to TopstepX -> API -> Link the account

  3. TopstepX -> API -> Create an API Key

  4. Go to Sierra Chart

  5. Global Settings -> Sierra Chart Server Settings and set the following settings

    1. Middle tab, set Enable DTC Protocol Server = "Yes"

    2. Listening Port = 11099

    3. Allow Trading = "Yes"

    4. Require Authentication ="No"

    5. Automatically use JSON Compact Encoding for Websocket Connections = "Yes"

    6. Encoding (List) = "JSON"

    7. Allowed Incoming IPs (List) = "Local Computer Only"

  6. File -> Save All in Sierra Chart

  7. Register your account in SierraStep using the same email that you paid for your subscription with

  8. Login

  9. Sierrachart should be automatically connected (Sierra Chart must be open when you open SierraStep)

  10. Copy in your TopstepX API Key from step 3

  11. Type in your TopstepX Username

  12. Click Authorize

  13. You can now select your desired account and trade SierraChart Sim1 account with all trades reflected in TopstepX

Common Issues and Their Quick Fixes

ISSUE 1: Project X displaying "Order Rejected"

FIX:

  • With some brokers their symbols setup is a tad different than Topstep's, at times an ES/MES contract for 6844.50 may display as 68.44 when being routed over. What we'll do is simply translate the Sierra symbols to relay the correct price for Topstep. This is done as follows:

  • Go to Chart -> Chart Settings -> Symbol -> Trade and Current Quote Symbol Price Multiplier (List)

  • Adjust this to fit the Topstep price (usually changing it from 0 -> 0.01 in the above case)
